Apstrakt: This talk explores the long-range challenges autonomous vehicles (AVs) face on highways, such as detection of shoulder or rear vehicles, that need to be properly handled to ensure smooth operations of automated trucks. It gives an overview of various situations that the AVs can encounter, and explores advanced long-range detection technologies that improve situational awareness and ensure reliable and safe autonomous driving (AD) systems.
